
Charlton is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), with an Educational Specialist degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Harding University. Prior to working in a private practice setting, he spent 10 years doing counseling in community mental health, working with children, families and adults in a variety of therapeutic settings. Charlton has extensive experience in managing and de escalating crisis situations, assisting clients in working through anxiety, depression, grief, anger, substance use issues, relational conflict, and life transitions. As a means for effectively healing from trauma, he is trained in EMDR.
In therapy, Charlton prefers an eclectic approach which utilizes elements of person-centered, Cognitive-Behavioral, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused therapeutic techniques. He believes that creating a comfortable and accepting environment for people and building relationships with them is the greatest indicator of positive outcomes.
Charlton is a husband and father of 3. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, being outdoors relaxing, working or hunting and fishing, watching sports, taking naps, and playing video games.
