Zach is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University. He is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Conscious Discipline.
Prior to joining ReGroup, Zach worked for over 9 years in community mental health school-based, outreach, and therapeutic day treatment settings. He is experienced in helping adolescents and their families dealing with disruptive behaviors, depression, anxiety, trauma, and phase of life problems. Zach is trained to work with adults and couples as well. Additionally, having worked closely with school systems during his career, Zach is keenly aware of the stressors educators experience in their line of work. He is also the father of an adopted child and is eager to support adoptive families.
Zach’s approach to therapy is client-centered and solution-focused. He works to help clients cast a vision of their desired future, set goals to bridge the present to the future, and identify resources to sustain them on their journey. Zach also leans heavily on the therapeutic benefits of humor. He contends, as the great Bob Hope once said, “I have seen what a laugh can do. It can transform almost unbearable tears into something bearable, even hopeful.”
